White and Gold Christmas Cake

This Cake was made for an event held by the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity. They had a stand at a food fayre and wanted a cake they could raffle to raise funds.
The overall theme of the event was Victorian so I wanted to create something elegant and classic that would fit the event.
I decided on gold and white as they work beautifully together.

The cake was a traditional fruit cake covered with marzipan and fondant. I added a raised section to the bottom of the cake and finished the edge with fondant rope and piping.
I then added rows of tiny gold flowers which were cut from rolled white fondant and then dusted with edible gold lustre dust.
I used an organza ribbon around the bottom of the cake which had a lovely lustrous quality.
