Tiffany Birthday Cake

Good evening folks.
All is quiet again. My son Dexter has been staying with his nanny up north for a week and he got back yesterday.
Within an hour of his return the lounge was upside down and the noise level was up a couple of decibels.
As he is now fast asleep it is peaceful and I can get a bit of work done without being asked why dogs can’t talk or what the sharpest thing in the universe is.
For all the noise and interruptions I am so pleased he is home.
I made a couple of cakes over the weekend - theres a funny thing!

One of them was a lovely Tiffany birthday cake. I was so pleased with it.
The cake was a vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream and covered with marzipan and blue fondant icing.
I attached the fondant in two separate halves so that it would look like a box.
The next thing was to attach the ribbon. I rolled out the ivory fondant and then sprayed it with edible lustre spray in pearl.
I used my ribbon cutter to get the same widths for all ribbons and then used my little sereated roller to get the stitching effect along the sides.
Once the ribbons were on the cake I made the bow using the same method. I put scrunched up kitchen roll inside the bow loops to support them until they had set.
The next thing was the Tiffany logo. This was the part I was not really looking forward to doing.
It has to be painted on by hand and if I had botched it the only way to correct it would have been to remove the fondant and start again.
The other difficulty with painting or drawing something precisely onto a cake is that you are not able to lean on it without leaving a big hand print.

I transferred the logo onto the cake by tracing the back to front logo onto wax paper with an edible colour pen and then placed it onto the cake and pressed gently to get a copy of the logo on the cake.
I then steadied my shaking hand and painted the logo with edible paint.
I decided to add the heart locket. I had not planned to do this but thought it would look great with the number 70 in an embossed design.

I made the number 70 by cutting it out of card (not too thick) and then sticking it back to front on a section of card.
When turned over and pressed into the fondant it creates the number the right way round.
There is a certain amount of blue peter type making and sticking involved in cake making.
I cut the heart shape out around the number and then painted it with edible silver paint and finished it with the lustre pearl spray.
I made chain links with fondant and coloured them the same way as the locket.
The only problem with a Tiffany cake is that it does not include anything sparkly that you can show off on your wrist.

Hi Amanda
I cannot begin to tell you just how lucky I was to have found you. My mum’s Tiffany birthday cake was amazing. It looked so lovely it was a shame to eat it. The taste was incredible and compliments all round to the chef. I will only think of you for cake making in the future and recommend you to every body I know. Thanks again. Incredible talent.
Best regards
Jacqueline

I absolutely love the tiffany cake and it would be perfect for a friends 30th Birthday lunch. Is it possible for you to make a mini version of this cake - say 15cm by 15cm?
Will need this ready for Monday 15 Feb. Please advise if this is possible and if so, the price.
