Nappy Cakes?

What are nappy cakes? you may be asking, just as I did.

I must admit that my first thought was “not sure they would taste too good” but of course they are not cakes made from used nappies but products for new mums all wrapped up and stacked like cakes.

Perhaps it is not the first thing you would think of doing with nappies and Johnson’s baby lotion but I must say they look fantastic.

I had an email from Kerry at Nappy Cakes Cornwall. It was a business enquiry and not nappy related at all. As there was a link to her website I had a look and really liked them.

Kerry says she came up with the idea by chance when looking for a christening present.

“the search engine took me to a Nappy Cake. I instantly fell in love with the concept of creating a beautiful design that would please any new parent or parent to be, so I started making the odd one or two for friends.

They were totally delighted and it most definitely became quite a talking point in places, so after careful research, I decided to make more of them for you to enjoy too.”

Kerry sells ready made nappy cakes or she can put together bespoke designs.

She also makes mum to be cakes containing lots of pampering stuff.

This has got me thinking about other things that could be made into cakes - maybe candles and pot pourri or beauty products (for a hen party) with make up brushes shooting out of the top.

I can see my future gifts being given in the shape of a cake! My trade mark thing perhaps - I love cakes, I make them, I present gifts in the shape of cakes, I’ve gone mad.
