Heart Engagement Cake

My client had an idea of what she wanted and sent me a picture of a cake she liked.

The cake was a gooey chocolate sponge filled with delicious chocolate butter cream and then covered with marbled chocolate marzipan and chocolate flavoured fondant. Overall there was a lot of chocolate!

The bottom large tier was brown fondant with ivory hearts. On top of this sat a dummy polystyrene mini heart covered with ivory fondant and smaller brown hearts.

I wired together brown and ivory feathers and curls of gold coloured wire. I then added 2 silver hearts on wires with the names of my client and her fiance piped onto them in brown.

I made hole in the dummy heart for the bunch of feathers to sit in.

Once the feathers were in place I tweezed the feathers and curls to get them just where I wanted them.

I made a large ivory heart to sit on top of the large tier. This contained a greeting piped in brown and two dinky brown hearts.
