Green Polka Dot Wedding Cake

My client was very clear on the colour and kind of look she wanted for her wedding cake.

The cake contained both edible and dummy tiers so that the bride and groom had the right number of portions for their guests and the style of cake they wanted.

I created tiers in various depths to add interest to the cake design. I began by covering the tiers in marzipan and/or fondant depending on whether the tier in question was edible or a dummy.

I used different combinations of green and white on each tier, again to add interest instead of having the same combination on every tier.

The ribbons on the top of the cake were made by looping lengths of ribbon and then securing the shape by stitching them. Once I had enough loops stitched together I attached them to a small round cake card covered in fondant.

I secured the ribbons with royal icing. The cake card was placed on the top of the cake once the other tiers were assembled at the venue.

I assembled this cake at the reception venue and it fitted perfectly with the colour scheme and flowers. The reception venue looked beautiful. It was light and airy and the cake was fresh and crisp looking.

Amanda made me a stunning 5 tier wedding cake at very short notice! I think I was lucky to find her! She listened to my ideas and was quick to send through a design for my approval. It tied in with my theming perfectly. Her attention to detail was fantastic and the cake was everything I imagined it to be. She set it up for me at my wedding venue which I did not expect and was an added bonus and meant something less to worry about! Everyone commented on the cake which was really tasty! Thanks Amanda!
