Cupcake Wedding Cake
This cake was made for a summer wedding in the beautiful surroundings of Newland Hall.
The reception was held in a marquee in the grounds of the hall.
The cake was a cupcake cake with a difference. Instead of using a traditional cupcake stand the cupcakes were displayed on shallow cake tiers.
The cake tiers that formed the base for the cupcake consisted of two lemon tiers and two chocolate tiers covered with marzipan and ivory fondant icing.
These shallow tiers were stacked on top of one another
The cupcakes were vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream filling and covered with marzipan and fondant icing in shades of yellow and brown.
I suggested that the cupcakes would be more interesting if they had different patterns on them but had the same colours running throughout.
This way there would be lots of variety without the overall design becoming to busy.
All of the tiers had plastic dowels inserted to prevent the upper tiers sinking down.
The cupcakes were not too heavy and therefore could sit on the cakes without risk of sinking or damaging the cake covering.
I love the freshness of this cake. The warm, golden tones in the marquee were the perfect setting for the cake.
