Chocolate Rose Birthday Cake

This birthday cake was chocolate on top of chocolate. The cake was rich gooey chocolate cake filled and covered with chocolate ganache.
The rose was made from rolled out chocolate paste. This paste rolls out just as fondant does but is a rich dark brown colour and contains cocoa solids. I rolled out thin sausage strips and curled them down the side of the cake. I made the leaves from rolled chocolate paste using a cutter and embosser to create the veins.

I dusted the leaves with edible gold lustre dust which created a lovely gold leaf effect. I then attached the leaves around the top and bottom of the cake.

This cake was super chocolatey and smelled very tempting.
