Cartoon Birthday Cake
This cake was made for a 20th birthday party. The character is a well known cartoon character. I wasn’t familiar with it when my client described what she wanted although I probably should be as I have a 5 year old and could pretty much recite the script of some scooby doo episodes.
The picture on the top of the cake was created by first tracing the overall design and then cutting out pieces of the design to make a jigsaw.
I then placed these jigsaw pieces on rolled out fondant and cut around them. The cut pieces were then re assembled on top of the cake using a small amount of water on a brush to stick them down.
I think the finished effect is great. I love the bold colours and shapes of this cake. Amazingly this cake made it through the london underground and a long train journey to get to the birthday girl.
