British Sugarcraft Guild Banner

The British Sugarcraft Guild was founded in 1981 by a group of people with a love of sugarcraft.

Since then it has grown enormously and has branches throughout the United Kingdom with over 5,000 members.

The Guild is made up of regions spread across England, Ireland and Scotland. Within these regions are branches where the members usually meet once a month.

These meetings include demonstrations, news about forthcoming events, raffle prizes, the sale of sugarcraft supplies and coffee and scrummy home made cake.

It is a great opportunity to meet like minded people and exchange ideas and tips and find solutions to the cake decoration problem that has kept you up until one o’clock in the morning.

Sugarcraft Guild members regularly participate in competitions. Here is a selection of work from the Guild’s website galleries and competition pieces.

Birthday Cake

This birthday cake entitled Playbus is by Pat Russell. This is such a fun cake and perfect for a child’s birthday. It has lots going on and the colours are great.

It has all the things that little boys love and the finish is superb.

I also really love the background colouring in the photo, it is a perfect back drop for the cake.

Panda Cake

This cake is by Linda Hill. I think it works really well.

The texture used throughout is very effective.

The pandas have lovely wet noses and glassy black eyes.

The colours are great too with monotone colours and then a splash of bright green.

These are all competition cakes and modelled pieces.
