50th Pink Birthday Cake
My client ordered this cake for his wife’s 50th birthday celebration. He wanted pink and white decoration.
It is possible to buy or hire numeral shaped baking tins. In this case I had a frozen square vanilla sponge cake. Providing it is well wrapped cake freezes very well.
I used a stencil to cut out the number shapes from the cake. I cut the cake while it was semi frozen. When cutting out shapes it helps if the cake is still part frozen as it slices well, produces less crumbs and there is less chance of chunks of cakes detaching when cutting.
I decorated the cake with white and pink fondant and pink flowers. I made two plaques by grouping together fondant hearts and flowers.
Once the flowers and hearts had hardened I piped the birthday greeting onto them. I then attached the plaques to the cake board above and below the number 50.
